DVNR RideList Readme

The Death Valley nOObs Rally is an ADVrider camping get-together held at Panamint Springs Resort. Activities include counting rocks, standing around and shooting the breeze, standing in line to use an outhouse, sitting around a campfire, eating food and a raffle.

Notice that there is NO motorcycle riding included!

Since the aforementioned activities can get old pretty fast out in the middle of the desert with a finite quantity of beer, most attendees bring motorcyle(s) and go ride somewhere during the day. Most riders will ride with other riders given that riding solo in an environment as unforgiving as Death Valley is only for riders that fully understand and accept the risks involved, or ones that are just Darwin Awards waiting to happen.

This Electronic Ride List was created to assist the formation of riding groups. We are fortunate that DVNR attendees include some experienced riders familiar with the area and are willing to lead rides and post them on the list. They are not resposible if you get lost or have a Darwin event, but each ride leader does have some rules created to avoid mishaps and you are required to follow them. If you don't like the rules, find a different ride.

Can't find a ride you like? You can of course try to find others to ride with at the event, or create and lead your own ride on the RideList.

The RideList has a really weak login system designed to minimize shenanigans and mean-spirited hacking that is way too prevalent on the internet, but is not "secure" by any stretch of the imagination. The first time you use the RideList you will need to create a login and password. These are in no way associated with your ADVrider account but it is recommended to use your ADVrider handle as a username. There is no electronic password recovery system - if you have a senior moment and forget it, there will be a few inmates you can PM on ADVrider to reset it. A reset password simply means you enter a new one when logging in the next time. And remember the new one you just entered for the future.
Private message motopsychoman for a password reset.

The RideList will allow you to alter any of the specifics of any ride that you yourself have posted except for the ride name. It would be courteous to PM inmates that have signed up or post on the Noobs thread that you have changed your ride.

To minimize the number of flake-outs, Signing Up for a ride will be disabled until about 2-3 weeks before the event.

After logging in you will see a list of all the rides that have been posted, clicking on any of these will show a page with details about the ride and button to sign up for the ride. If you are the leader of the ride you won't be listed as a participant.
